Jollytown Rd Subdivision

Laka is heavly involved in land and subdivision development. We are continually investigating and researching land development opportunities and are communicating with local government autorities, privite developors and large corporations within the housing development community.

We recently completed a 29 block subdivision in Lyndoch over 2 stages. Laka designed the subdivision with rural living in mind to create an area that while close to the suburbs, kept the outback setting intact. The works comprised site earthworks to meet the design requirements, construction of road pavement, common service trench, CWMS services, mains water supply service and stormwater drainage including kerb and watertable and installation of hotmix bitumen to roads with signage and line marking. The project required liaising with the appropriate authorities to ensure all aspects of the project followed through efficiently with all WHS procedures and compliance with the appropriate standards.

Aspire Stage 6A and 7

Laka Earthmoving Contractors Pty Ltd were engaged to construct the stage 6a and stage 7 of Aspire subdivision at Evanston. With the 2 stages not being next to each other resulted in a challenge to get both stages done at the same time as machines could not be quickly transported between areas.

Laka Earthmoving Contractors Pty Ltd were engaged as the main contractor to construct the Stockwell Waste Water Treatment Plant.Works included earthworks for construction of new WWTP, upgrading existing pump station, pipeline & associated pipework to new WWTP, installation of HDPE Liner, electrical switchroom, control systems and pump station.  During excavation the site revealed household rubbish, miscellaneous debris which was required to be separated, sorted and recycled, with materials not able to be recycled, clay capped.

LAKA managed to build excellent relations with The Barossa Council and undertake the works within the nominated construction period. LAKA achieved the client’s concept design which included catering for future growth and new connections within the Stockwell & Nuriootpa areas, and allow local reuse of treated effluent.

LAKA were awarded the contract to construct approx 1.6 kms of gravity drain along various roads on the northern boundary of the Nuriootpa township, construction of pumping station and construction of approx 6 kms of pressure main from the pumping station proceeding along various roads to the Stockwell WWTP.

LAKA were required to maintain safe and adequate means of access from roads, lanes etc. to private and public properties for vehicular and pedestrian traffic at all times.

LAKA installed approximately 1.6kms gravity main at depths ranging from 1.5m up to 3.8m.  All trenches above 1.5m were shored to support the sides of the excavation and prevent cave-ins and OHS Safety precautions were taken and observed at all times during the work.

LAKA supplied and installed all pipes, fittings, access chambers, pits, sumps, IP’s, including Class D heavy duty covers and were responsible for reinstatement of all bitumen roadworks.

ALDI Smithfield

The works comprised the construction of a new ALDI Store with the scope of works being awarded to Laka being, site clearing, demolishing existing kerbing, pavements and services and disposing offsite.

The removal of uncontrolled fill, moisture condition and relay under level 1 conditions.
Asbestos was discovered i nthe uncontrolled fill which was removed under Safework SA requirements and removed from site.

Other contracted civil works included stormwater drainage, spoon drains, retaining walls, carpark preperation and lay bitumen, kerning, pram ramps, garden bed surrounds, line marking, wheel stops and bollards

Drake Distribution Centre

Laka Earthmoving Contractors Pty Ltd were awarded the early works contract to prepare the site for a large warehouse pad and temporary drainage of the site. The works involved usng the large quantity of onsite fill to build the pad up and create a natural fall away from the pad for drainage.

The largest challenge to this project was the season. Coming into winter this posed a significant challenge as the natural soils to that area were high in clay. With the site being flooded twice due to heavy rains, this created quite a few soft spots in the fill buildup that needed to be reworked and rectified before the rubble could be placed.
